Introduction
I started making murals out of broken rocks as a teenager and since then I have
loved experimenting making artwork with all kinds of materials. The Icelandic
nature has a great impact on me and in my work and has given me ideas and
materials to choose from. Nature with all the colors found in the rocks, the
shells and barnacles which have so special texture and form. The seashore gives
me inspiration as well as the mountains and the rough Icelandic nature.
I have studied mosaics in Ravenna Italy where I learned ancient Roman technique
of mosaic. They cut the marble with hammer and hardie into tesserae and the
mosaic art is made on a lime base. Afterwards the work is casted on its final
location. In my murals the technique is based on this old tradition but using
the Icelandic volcanic rocks, basalt along with imported marble, glass and
smalti.
My study in Ravenna opened
new dimensions for my concepts. What you see on this website is artwork which
has developed after these experiences.
Thank you for visiting my website.
